TIME STONE TRAVELERS
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ~ COUNCIL BLUFF, IOWA
During Vacation Bible School in Council Bluff, Iowa children and staff experienced the excitement of Time Travel through Josh, a boy who finds a stone with strange markings on it. As Josh brushes dirt off the stone, he and his brother and sister are pulled back in time to visit a Mayan jungle, a volcano in Hawaii, a medieval castle and a laboratory from long ago. At each site the children discover through a study of the Ten Commandments how to respect God and treat others.
This year’s VBS was an awesome outreach event with 109 children attending. Several came to the knowledge that there is a God who loves them. Some of these children said they had never heard of Jesus until coming to VBS. On our celebration Sunday, we had many of the children return to share with their families the things they had learned. At the close of the celebration several children and their families came forward to pray for salvation.
We were blessed to have 37 adults and teenagers on staff this year. We also were blessed to have many corporate sponsors who either donated items for use or allowed us to purchase supplies at cost. We have also forged relationships with other churches in our community who saw the castle outside and wanted to come check out what we were doing. We will be partnering with them for events in the future.
