"Going Camping In Peru"

In 2009 Helping Hands for Kids is “Going Camping in Peru.”  Children will be raising funds to buy beds for the national campground in Piura, Peru.  Last year Christie, a young woman from South Carolina, served in one of the youth camps in Piura.  She shared: 

“The children’s sleeping area has concrete floors, brick walls and holes for future doors and windows with very thin grass mats laid on the floor for beds.  One night a storm swept through, with high winds and blowing rain.  The cold rains soaked the children’s thin mats.  But the children didn’t complain.  They came to breakfast eager to participate in the morning service.  During the service the children worshipped with all that was in them—praying, singing, and dancing to the Lord.”

Soon the building where the children sleep will have windows and doors to keep out the rains but money is needed to buy beds.  $25 will buy a “mat with a cover.” 

Encourage the children in your congregation to lend a helping hand by giving and praying for the camping ministry in Peru.
